A következő mintaleírás a témájához kapcsolódik.
A képleírásokhoz hasznos kifejezéseket találhattok.

Learning with computers

School-computers

school computers

These photos show how computers and the Internet are used for learning purposes at school and at university. When I was young, students did not have PCs and laptops at home; however, nearly everyone has one nowadays. Using computers has a lot of advantages since it makes learning much easier.

Firstly, you don’t need to go to public libraries because basically you can find everything on the Net. With the help of a search engine (e.g. Google or Bing), you are able to find the necessary information in minutes. This way, students save a lot of time and energy, and for example, they can easily write a literature assignment.

Secondly, in many cases, a CD-ROM is included with the textbook, especially with language books. These CDs contain a lot of interactive exercises making learning more effective and enjoyable. It’s more likely that stundents won’t get bored if the exercises are combined with a lot of images, audios and videos. Learning is becoming more and more interesting owing to the widespread use of computers and the Internet.

At university, one cannot cope without good computer skills because they are expected to hand in their assignments in a Word-document format or send it to the teacher via e-mail. Moreover, they find all the information they need for their studies online: the courses they need to attend  the exam dates and results and things like that. Stundent can also communicate and cooperate with each other without leaving their home as the Internet provides them with plenty of useful possbilities.

However, there are also drawbacks of these technological developments. Since using computers makes stundents’ lives much easier, they are becoming less and less creative as they are used to not having to think too much and work hard if they want to achieve something.

On the whole, one cannot argue with the benefits of using technology at schools. Learning has become more entertaining, and students feel more motivated with these new learning tools. Yet, we mustn’t forget that traditional learning methods also need to play a crucial role in education.

Good Bye, House!

Amerikában 8 év után ma este teszi le a lantot (vagy inkább a botot) Doktor House, aki minden bizonnyal az egyik legkultikusabb figuraként vonul(t) be a televíziózás történelmébe. Pár órával a finálé előtt néhány klasszikus House mondással (Houseisms) búcsúzom a kedvenc sorozatomtól.

"Everybody lies.”

"It's a basic truth of the human condition that everybody lies. The only variable is about what."

"Humanity is overrated."

"Reality is almost always wrong."

"Occam's Razor. The simplest explanation is almost always somebody screwed up."

"Weird works for me."

"Sometimes we can't see why normal isn't normal."

"You want to make things right? Too bad. Nothing's ever right."

"There is not a thin line between love and hate. There is -in fact- a Great Wall of China with armed sentries posted every 20 feet between love and hate."

"If you can fake sincerity, you can fake pretty much anything."

"What usually happens when you poke something with a stick? It pokes back."

"Mistakes are as serious as the results they cause!"

"There's nothing in this universe that can't be explained. Eventually."

"You know how they say, “you can't live without love”? Well, oxygen is even more important."

“The drugs don't make me high, they make me neutral.”

Everything is conditional. You just can't always anticipate the conditions.

"I was curious. Since I'm not a cat, that's not dangerous. "

"How come God gets credit when anything good happens? "

"People don't change. For example, I'm gonna keep on repeating 'people don't change.'"

"Don't blame me. Blame my gender."

"Normal is not normal."

"Hope is for sissies."

"Don't trust opinions."

"Idiots are fun, no wonder every village wants one."

"Disappointment is anger for sissies."

"Sometimes the best gift is the gift of never seeing you again."

"Sometimes you have to overreact over someone´s overreaction."

"Lower your expectations."

What’s the Difference? Economic or economical?

the current economic climate (a jelenlegi gazdasági helyzet)
economic reform (gazdasági reform)

ECONOMICAL – takarékos, gazdaságos

It would be more economical to buy the bigger size. (Gazdaságosabb lenne a nagyobb mennyiségben megvenni.)
We are looking for the most economical production methods. (A leggazdaságosabb termelési módszereket keressük.)

Jövő idők 5. (will be doing, will have done, will have been doing)

A mai bejegyzés három, viszonylag ritkábban használt jövő idő magyarázatát tartalmazza.

1. Future Continuous
(1) This time next week, I will be watching the last episode of my favourite TV show. (Jövő hét ilyenkor a kedvenc sorozatom utolsó részét fogom nézni.)
(2) Half an hour from now, the student will be writing the biology test. (Félóra múlva a diákok a biológia dolgozatot fogják írni.)
(3) Jack is injured, so he won’t be playing in the game next Saturday.

2. Future Perfect
(4) By the end of the year, he will have passed his language exam. (Az év végére leteszi a nyelvvizsgáját.)
(5) The film will have started by the time we get to the cinema. (A film már elkezdődik, mire a moziba érünk.)

A future perfect (will have done) igeidőt, akkor használjuk, ha egy jövőbeli időpontban valami már megtörtént.

3. Future Perfect Continuous
(6) Next month we will have been living in this flat for ten years. (Jövő hónapban lesz, hogy 10 éve lakunk ebben a lakásban.)
(7) When Joe gets there, the others will have been celebrating for hours.

Bora-Bora
This time next week I’ll be drinking cocktails on a tropical island. Probably on Bora Bora.
